Aaron grew up on a dairy farm in Bristol, Rhode Island, graduated B.A. from Barrington College in 1963, and M.Div., at Berkeley Divinity School at Yale in 1966. He studied under Saul Alinsky, Vanderbilt University, and Human Sexuality under ASECT Supervision. Ordained priest in March, 1967, Fr Usher was formerly Counselor at Westport Family Medicine in Westport, MA since 1988, conducted healing commissions since 1988, and Priest-In-Charge at St Marks, Warren, Rhode Island. Aaron is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, their 4 adult children and 10 grandchildren.
Rev. Usher's distinguished career included several years as Rector of various parishes, American Chaplain U.S. Embassy, Moscow, Leningrad, Pastor of the American Congregation, Anglican Chaplain, British Embassy, USSR. He conducted healing missions in 42 states, Germany, France, Canada, Italy, Soviet Union, Grenada, and Geneva. He was Father Superior, Society of Mary; Priest Associate, Order of Holy Cross since 1968; Priest Associate, Sister of the Holy Nativity since 1986; and held numerous positions of Chaplain, Chair, Co-Chair, Co-founder, member of Boards of Directors, and a member of his diocesan healing commission. Fr Usher was highly esteemed and the recipient of various awards and honors from civic organizations including a Proclamation from the Governor or RI for his work on Hunger Awareness; Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce; and Proclamation, City of Pawtucket: Aaron Usher Day, September 15, 1985.
Aaron authored SELMA DIARY, 1965; FULLNESS OF EMPTINESS, 1983; and WITH RUSSIA FROM LOVE, Episcopal Life, 1988. He was Regional Warden for North East Region 1 - The International Order of St Luke the Physician, since 1989, member of the Board of Directors School of Pastoral Care, and a popular lecturer at the School of Pastoral Care throughout North America.
